24.08.2017 Nurek hydropower rehabilitation project

The Republic of Tajikistan has applied for financing from the World Bank International Development Association and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank toward the cost of the Nurek hydropower rehabilitation project, intends to apply for financing for the Phase 2 of the Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the Contract for Power plant rehabilitation.

21.12.2016 Capacity building tostrengthen the climate resilience of energy sector assetsand investments.

 The objective of the “Capacity Building Program to Strengthen the Climate Resilience of Energy Sector Assets & Investments” (the CBP) is to build the capacity of the state utility Barki Tojik together with the state hydro-meteorology agency Tajik Hydromet (TH) and other relevant institutions to be more aware of the effects of climate change and to be better equipped to manage the impacts on water resources and hydropower generation. 

24.07.2015 Qairokkum Hydropower Rehabilitation Project
Barqi Tojik intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development [the Bank] to rehabilitate the hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment of the existing Qairokkum hydro power plant under present and future climatic conditions and increase the existing installed capacity from 126MW to 174MW by installing turbines with greater rated capacity.

“Qairokkum Hydro Power Rehabilitation Project” has won the award of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the nomination of “The Best Project in Climate Change Adaptation”
