28.01.2019 Asian Development Bank will be connected the Tajik Power Network with Energy Power Grid of Central Asia. It will help to republic sell their excess energy

In November 23, 2018 between Government of Tajikistan and ADB was signed the Grant Agreement in the amount of $35 million, which will be directed to complete reconnection of electric-power system of Tajikistan with Power Network of Uzbekistan. This implies that from 2009 year the reconstruction of the parallel operations of tajik energy system was disconnected in some region.

Tajikistan started to export power to Uzbekistan on an islanded mode. However, in order to synchronize the systems and achieve power trade target, the relay protection system in Tajikistan has to be modernized and new interconnection points established. The proposed project will install modern relays, circuit breakers, instrumental transformers and ancillary equipment and system at eight 220kV and two 500kV interconnection points, establish two new 500kV interconnections and it is planned to provide capacity building to Barqi Tojik staff to improve reliability of parallel operations of Tajikistan power system with Uzbekistan and CAPS.

Therewith, it is planned to start in the north two new connection points of tajik Electrical Network to uzbek Electrical Power System. It should be noted that the construction of 500 kV Power Transmission line ordered to increase the consistency parallel operation of two energy systems.

This project, make it possible to export the summer excess energy to the Republic of Uzbekistan and provided with more effective using of regional energy resources.

The reconstruction of this connection is important for the providing of complete parallel work with Energy System of Uzbekistan and Energy System of Central Asia.

In consideration of the Government contribution in the amount of $5 million, total project cost is $40 million. It is expected that it will be completed on 2022 year.
